We catch 3 different species of Cod out of Poole Dorset:
The Winter Cod tend to be lot bigger and are caught from November – January. They are caught at anchor using bait such as Squid and Cuttlefish.
Summer Cod can sometimes be caught inshore, but the bigger fish are offshore mid-channel, where we drift wrecks and rough ground using artificial lures . Orange, Blue and White lures do well.
Autumn Cod can sometimes be caught when Plaice fishing.
